  • Does the company do a good job communicating on its website and social media platforms? Provide examples. 
    Yes, Basking Shark Scotland has a pretty slick, new-looking, up to date website and they post regularly on all of their social media channels, except X. (because it's kind of a dumb channel and no one likes it or actually uses it) Their content is visually pleasing and on brand.

  • On the company website, what is featured at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of the home page? Why do you think they have it organized this way? In your opinion, is it effective?
    The top of the homepage has a menu bar, a cool logo, and a book now button. There's also a big catchy slogan and the background is a map of Scotland with their location pinned. It's very effective. The middle of the page has really large professional photos and links to their different kinds of tours. The professional photos are a really nice touch and the photography style adds continuity to their slick website design and style. They also have videos of basking sharks and the location, Hebrides Islands, that take up the full width of the page. This is a really good design choice. In design we talk about using thirds a lot and this website utiliizes that technique. The bottom of the page has another big quote in graphic text, contact information like addresses and a subscription box.

  • Does the business communicate an identity online? Provide examples.
    Yes, the business has a strong website with lots of information. They are active on a few different social media platforms and regularly post content related to their business products. I would say they have a very strong branding.

  • Where could the company improve its online communication? 
    I honestly wouldn't improve anything with this online communication. They already have a lot of communication set up compared to other tour company websites, or even other business websites I've viewed. They have an impressive amount of information on their website that is well organized. They're regularly active on social media channels. They're doing all the right things. I think they're visual branding is a particularly strong point compared to other businesses and sets them apart from the start.
